MRC Harwell have begun their Advance Autumn 2022 training programme, which will run up until December of this year
The UK’s national facility for mouse genetics and the use of mouse models for the preclinical study of human disease, The Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell offers a wide range of services to researchers around the world.
MRC Harwell is also home to the Advance training centre, which delivers world-class practical and theoretical training courses and has labs and training rooms available to hire.
Their upcoming training schedule will cover a range of practical and theoretical courses in genetics, genome editing, cryopreservation, basic lab skills, and the creation, validation, breeding, and use of conditional transgenic mouse models.
They recently held their first training course of the Autumn 2022, which was the first of a series of Practical Laboratory Skills training courses that they’re running over the next few months.
The course covers basic theoretical and practical lab skills, including preparing COSHH risk assessments, reagents, and solutions, as well as use of fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, pipettes, and balances.
Brand new for 2022! Introduction to Editing the Mouse Genome
Genome editing of mice is widely used but can yield unpredictable outcomes. This course is designed to introduce the principles of design of genome editing, efficient strategies for screening of founder animals and comprehensive validation of newly established lines.
Creating and Validating Conditional Transgenic Models
Transgenic mice are an important resource to understand gene function, regulation and expression. This course is designed to introduce the principles behind conditional genetic modifications, experimental designs and analysis.
