KQ Labs Cohort 6.0 – Applications Now Open

The Francis Crick Institute is looking for early-stage, UK-based start-ups at the intersection of data science, software and biomedical research to join the next programme.

Past founders come from diverse backgrounds – from researchers, to clinicians, to individuals from diverse professional paths all with innovative ideas and the passion to improve patient outcomes.

Innovations from their alumni generally fall into the three following broad areas (although they are happy to consider outliers!):

  • Drug discovery, R&D research tools or patient recruitment
  • Diagnostics (incl. genomics, imaging and biomarkers)
  • Patient/clinician-facing digital health solutions

In terms of stage, the companies should be at pre-seed or seed stage. They have also accepted companies that have not yet raised any equity funding.

The programme is delivered by the Francis Crick Institute and funded by LifeArc, with sponsorship for one cancer focused company from Cancer Research Horizons. The programme is delivered over five months, kicking off in October and culminating in a Demo Day event in March 2024. Programme contents include a three day in-person kick-off at the Crick followed by weekly workshops (delivered virtually), mentoring with subject matter experts, and tailored introductions to key investors and corporates. Each company is given £40k funding in the form of a convertible loan note as part of the programme. The deadline to apply is 23:59 BST on Monday 10 July.

Further details on the programme, and the link to apply, can be found here.
